United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Professional Development Program

I am writing to share with you information about a professional development opportunity being offered by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Museum will be hosting an International Educator Institute from September 16 - 20, 2013, in Washington, DC.

The Institute application: Applications for the Institute are invited from educators residing outside the United States, Canada, and Western Europe, who are interested in learning about the Holocaust in order to promote civic engagement in their communities. Special consideration will be given to candidates applying from the Middle East and North Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe. http://www.cvent.com/d/scqf3w

The deadline is May 1

Essay: Why do you want to participate in the Institute, and how will the Institute further your professional development?
How do you determine your success as an educator?

Short responses (150 words or less), four topics: Identify your experience as an educator. Identify your experience as a leader. Identify your experience in community and civic education or organizations. Identify your experience learning or teaching about the Holocaust.

The application is done online, though it is recommended that anyone interested forward Krisi Hayden (Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate Yekaterinburg) their statements for editing/input just to ensure that their application is very competitive.  Each person will need two recommendations, Krisi is happy to write one of those recommendations.
